Property In Warwickshire

Stratford upon Avon continues to flourish as a fashionable location for buyers. There is an excellent range of property to suit most requirements from luxury apartments to riverside mansions on the sought after Tiddington Road. In 2015 Tiddington Road was revealed as the most expensive road in the West Midlands with the average house price being £1,349,000. Other sought after roads for period family homes are; Avenue Road, Welcombe Road and Maidenhead Road not forgetting the artisan cottages in Old Town.

Nearby Leamington Spa is a popular Regency town both with young professionals and families. The style of property especially Regency townhouses, period Villas and Victorian properties, has influenced Leamington’s appeal. Sought after roads Such as Northumberland Road, Lansdowne Circus, Binswood Avenue and Clarendon Crescent continue be very popular.

Neighbouring Warwick has an eclectic mix of housing from the highly desirable Tudor properties on Mill Street to the riverside properties on Bridge End. You can also find modern houses for sale, designs range from contemporary to period style.

The surrounding villages offer a wonderful range of property from stone cottages, barn conversions, farmhouses, and wonderful period manor houses. There are also an increasing number of contemporary ‘Grand Design’ houses for sale.

Local Area

Warwickshire, with a population of 545,000, is famous for being the birthplace of the playwright William Shakespeare. Steeped in culture and history today Shakespeare’s Stratford-upon-Avon is one of the most important tourist destinations in the UK and home to the world renowned Royal Shakespeare Company.

The county town of Warwick is well known for its impressive medieval castle. Other prosperous towns of central and western Warwickshire include Leamington Spa, known for its fine Regency architecture and public parks, Kenilworth, which reputedly has the “finest ruined castle in England” and the Roman town of Alcester. In the south of the county it is largely rural and includes a small area of the North Cotswolds. Henley-in-Arden, in the north west of Warwickshire, is in an area once covered by the ancient Forest of Arden. Its charming High Street is officially a conservation area. Warwickshire is home to a number of automotive companies, including the historic and prestigious Jaguar Land Rover and Aston Martin brands.

Education

Warwickshire has some of the best independent schools in the country, Stratford-upon-Avon is well served by schools including The Croft Preparatory School, King Edward Grammar School for Boys, Shottery Grammar School for Girls and Stratford-upon-Avon High School. Warwick and Leamington Spa are also nearby and provide additional shopping facilities and schools including Warwick Boys School, Warwick Preparatory School and King’s High School in Warwick and in Leamington Spa, Kingsley School for Girls & Arnold Lodge Warwick School and Rugby School. Warwickshire is one of the few local authorities in England to still maintain the Grammar school system in two districts-Stratford-upon-Avon and Rugby.

Transport

Warwickshire has excellent transport links. The M40 which connects London to Birmingham runs through the centre of the county. The M6 connects the NW of England and the Midlands to the M1 motorway. Other major routes through the county are via the M45, the M6 toll and the M42. There are excellent train services too – Birmingham is only approximately 40 minutes away and London only 50 minutes from Rugby.
